OUR STORY

As the Voice for Real Estate in Central Florida, the Osceola County Association of REALTORS®, commonly called OSCAR, is the largest trade association in Osceola County and was established in 1924.  On October 1, 1950, we were officially designated a member of the National Association of Real Estate Boards (NAREB) which today is the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the largest trade association in the nation with 1.4 million members. When brokers, real estate agents and business partners join our Association, they also become members of NAR and Florida REALTORS® (FR).   Our Association currently represents more than 4,000 REALTOR® and Affiliate members.

The term REALTOR® is trademarked and identifies real estate professionals who are members of NAR, FR and OSCAR and subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Working for property owners, our Association provides a facility for professional development, advocacy and exchange of information among our members. When buying or selling a home, we encourage consumers to rely on the expertise and integrity of REALTORS®.

Following are some highlights of what sets us apart from other REALTOR® associations:

  • We help educate our community on the importance of homeownership and private property rights.
  • Education is integral to a successful real estate career, and our Association offers a diverse range of mandatory and elective continuing education classes, pre-licensing courses and professional designation classes for our members.
  • Our Association’s member interests are represented by its own REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC). RPAC is a powerful political lobbying body, supporting legislators and issues favorable to the real estate industry, private property rights, and “quality of Life” issues affecting the preservation, growth and development of local communities.
  • Our members benefit by a full-time professional standards committee, providing a timely and cost-effective process that resolves disputes, rather than resorting to costly litigation.
  • We provide our members vital information about industry issues and trends. Vehicles include our website, monthly newsletter, weekly updates and a wide variety of social media channels.
